Kitchen Knives
Straight-edge knives:
$6 Small*
$8 Medium*
$10 Large*
*Includes repairing minor chips, tip repairs, and clean-up of minor rust spots.
Serrated knives:
Prices are the same for a standard sharpening. Additional repair cost if serrations need reprofiling.
Repairs:
Up to $5 for large chips, bent blades, broken tips, smaller handle repairs, and reprofiling serrations.
More extensive repairs by estimate only.
*Size is measured by blade length. Small is under 5”, medium is from 5 to under 7”, and large is from 7-12”.

Japanese Style Sharpening:
After the bevel is established, the sharpening and finishing work is done on Japanese whetstones. They are finished on a leather strop.
$20 per knife for this service.
Single Bevel/Yanagiba Japanese Knife:
By estimate: $25 minimum
Knife Thinning:
By estimate: $30 minimum
Scissors
Fabric, Pinking, Kitchen, Household, and Industrial Scissors: $10
Knife Edge and Left-Handed Shears: $12
*includes disassembly, cleaning, and lubricating when possible.

$30-35 for convex shears, blenders, and thinners.
Beauty Shears
Grooming Shears
$20-25 for straight shears, curved shears, thinners, blender, and chunkers.
Clipper Blades
$10 to disassemble, clean, sharpen, reassemble, align, oil, and test.

Pocket/Carry Knives
Common Knives: $8 including minor clean-up and lubrication.
Multiple blade knives: add $5 per blade sharpened for small blades.
Double Edged Blades: $16 and up
*due to the wide variety of fixed and folding knives, prices may vary depending on the size, style, and severity of other work needed.
Whetstone Sharpening: $16 and up. Sharpen and hone on whetstones, after the bevel is established.
Repair Work: By estimate $5 and up
Minor chips and tip repairs are included in sharpening. However, fixing damage like that on this Scandi grind is an additional charge.
Yard Tools
Pruners: $10 along with other small tools.
Loppers $12/Hedge Clippers: $14 along with other larger tools.
Shovels and Edgers: $10 and up.
Mower Blades: $12 per blade (removed from deck only).
Includes cleaning and balancing with a high-precision balancer for optimal machine efficiency.
Hatchets and Axes: $12 per blade edge.
Machetes: $1 per inch of blade for sharpening. $2 per inch to add a bevel on edges that come blunt.
*Additional costs may apply for heavy rust removal, large chips, and other repairs.

Most orders will be ready within 24 hours after dropping them off. Large orders may take longer. Please ask if you have any questions.

Cash and check are commonly used to pay at pick up. Venmo and Zelle are also available for those who prefer to pay digitally.

I hear this often. People often throw away their inexpensive knives when they become dull. Most knives can be sharpened. I’ve sharpened many inexpensive knives with great success. Contact me if you have any questions.

I do not sharpen ceramic knives. These need special diamond abrasives to sharpen, and it is not cost-effective to sharpen this type of knife.

Yes, I do. I currently offer loaner chef, pairing, and bread (serrated) knives. There is an option to request one or more of these options via the Request Service form. If you have another request, please contact me and I’ll do my best to help.

I travel along route 53 mornings and evenings. I generally can offer this service within 2 miles east or west of route 53 from as far south as Lisle and as far north as Itasca. By filling out your address in the Request Service form, we can set up an appointment and confirm whether your location is within the range of service.
